A lot of casinos do not permit any kind of photography for many reasons. The first and most important one is security as photos and videos can be used for robberies and cheating scams. Photos and videos have long been used to map out establishments and plan attacks, so casinos have taken measures to avoid these incidents.

Another important reason is casinos want to protect the privacy of their clients. A lot of frequent gamblers prefer to keep their habit a secret, so appearing in a video or in photographs while having a good time gambling might lead to some undesirable consequences. But there are more relaxed casinos that allow short photo shoots in some locations other than the gaming area. If you badly need to take a "selfie" in the casino, you can probably sneak a quick one in less obvious locations. The best way to know is to ask the security personnel about their policies.

On the other hand, cellphones are allowed in most areas of casinos except for the sports book betting area. This is because the use of cellphones has been exploited by sports betting syndicates in the past. There are also some casinos that prohibit phones while in the poker room.
